    TGIT....Cheerleader of the Week

Thursday, November 20, 2008, 10:27 AM EST [General]

    Marisa Mckee.....Baylor

    Name: Marisa McKee
    Hometown:
    Forney, TX
    School: Baylor
    Year: Freshman
    Major: Biochemistry

Check out photos of Marisa in action.

I love my school, but I almost went to:
At the beginning of my senior year, my parents and I picked a day to go visit Baylor, A&M and UT. Baylor was our first stop and it was also our last stop. The campus was gorgeous and so inviting. I knew Baylor was the perfect place for me and it was the only school I applied to.

    My best physical feature is:
Well, I get a lot of compliments on my teeth. I wore braces for four years and it definitely was well worth it!

If I had to watch one movie on loop for ever, it would be:
Sex and the City. It is definitely the most entertaining movie I've seen in a while.

If you looked at the "most played" songs on my iPod, you'd see a lot of:
    Carrie Underwood
    .

    My worst habit is:
I can't ever keep up with my phone. I leave it everywhere. It basically stays lost.

    My gameday superstitions are:
I have to talk to my mom before every game no matter what. She puts me in the best mood and gives me the most encouragement.

I'd love to trade places for a day with:
    Hayden Panettiere
    .

The talent I'd most like to have that I don't possess is:
I wish I could paint really well.

These three things top my bucket list:
I want to go on a Safari in Africa. I want to go on at least twenty cruises. I want to live on a million dollar yacht for a year.

I'd want my last meal to be:
    Fajitas from On the Border.

The most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to me during a game is:
I accidentally started cheering when the other team scored ... Oops!

Three things I'd take to a desert island are:
My Bible, my Mac book and my boyfriend.

My favorite sport and professional sports teams are:
My favorite sport is soccer and my favorite professional sports teams are the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Rangers.

    My one guilty pleasure is:
Chocolate. What can I say? It runs in the family.

    My celebrity crush is:
    David Beckham
    .

Five people I'd like to have dinner with (living or dead) are:
    Jesus Christ
, Marilyn Monroe, Michael DeBakey, Emmitt Smith and George Washington.

My friends would be surprised to know that I:
Did not get my first pet until I was seventeen.

The next risk I want to take is:
I would love study abroad in Europe.

The reality show I'd do best on is:
    The Hills.

The worst date I've ever been on was:
I went on a date with this guy who worked at Texas Roadhouse. For dinner, he took me to Texas Roadhouse so he could get his employee discount. Then, he took me to the movies and he backed into another car in the parking lot.

5 Best Buys/5 Worst Buys at Costco & Sam's Clubs

Thursday, November 20, 2008, 09:23 AM CST [General]

Looking to Save Money at the 'Big Box' Stores?

    Best buys

Alcohol. Wine, liquor and beer prices can be 35% lower than at supermarkets. The best deals, however, are on high-end bottles.

"Warehouse clubs sell more Bordeaux than fine-wine shops," says Natalie MacLean, the editor of ..."return Msn.Navigation.OpenNew(this)">NatDecants.com, a wine education site. Costco recently offered a magnum of Chateau d'Yquem Sauternes 1997 for $500 -- $300 cheaper than the price on ..."return Msn.Navigation.OpenNew(this)">WineAccess.com. Bonus: Some states' laws let you buy alcohol without having to pay for a warehouse club membership.

Milk, butter and eggs. In all but a few cases, you can beat warehouse club food prices at supermarkets by combining weekly store sales with manufacturers' coupons. The notable exceptions: milk, butter and eggs, which are at least 20% cheaper at warehouse clubs, says Teri Gault, the founder of ..."return Msn.Navigation.OpenNew(this)">The Grocery Game, a shopping Web site. At Sam's Club, for example, a four-box pack of salted butter quarters recently was priced at $8.67. At ShopRite, it was $13.96.

Electronics. More often than not, gadget shoppers will find a better deal at a warehouse club than at mainstream retailers. For instance, BJ's recently beat Amazon.com by $6 on the Olympus FE-340 digital camera. But the real draw is the clubs' generous return policies, which encompass everything from price drops to out-of-warranty glitches, says Jerry Grossman, the editorial director for tech education site ..."return Msn.Navigation.OpenNew(this)">DemystifyingDigital.com. Costco accepts electronics returns within 90 days of the purchase, three times longer than Best Buy's policy. Sam's Club permits returns of most computers within six months, with no deadline for other electronics.

Meat. When it comes to the meat at the warehouse club, think: Top-notch butcher-shop quality meets supermarket prices. "It's a home run every time," enthuses Phil Lempert, the founder of ..."return Msn.Navigation.OpenNew(this)">Supermarket Guru, a news site. Two fresh racks of lamb (no antibiotics, no hormones) were selling recently for $95 at Costco. The same quality and quantity of meat was $120 and $135 at ..."return Msn.Navigation.OpenNew(this)">iGourmet.com and Lobel's of New York, respectively.

Prescription medications. Warehouse clubs routinely charge 50% less than local pharmacy chains and may even beat the $4-a-month offerings at superstores such as Wal-Mart and Target, says Gabriel Levitt, the vice president of research for pharmacy-rating site ..."return Msn.Navigation.OpenNew(this)">PharmacyChecker.com.

    Worst buys

Designer clothing. Forget about finding the latest styles from the pages of Vogue. Most designers generate warehouse-only lines. The rare piece from mainstream labels graced the runways years ago.

"Pricewise, it's not bad, but you'd get the same deals at a Marshalls or TJ Maxx without paying to get in," says Kathryn Finney, the founder of ..."return Msn.Navigation.OpenNew(this)">The Budget Fashionista, a frugal-shopping site.

Items that won't get fully used. If you end up throwing out half of that four-pound can of tuna or still have a full tube of sunscreen after the three-pack expires, you didn't get a good deal.

Frozen foods. Lempert recently scored a free frozen pizza from a neighbor, who had returned home from a warehouse club with a 12-pack that wouldn't fit in her freezer. "You will save money on frozen goods," he says, "but most people don't have room to store them." Unless you plan to eat that 115-count of Gorton's fish sticks or five-quart bucket of ice cream in one sitting, think twice before letting it take up freezer space.

Paper goods. Save your paper plate, paper towel and napkin purchases for the supermarket. "Toilet paper is extremely expensive at the warehouse club," says Mary Hunt, the founder of money management site ..."return Msn.Navigation.OpenNew(this)">Debt-Proof Living. At Sam's Club, a 36-pack of Charmin Ultra was $18.32, or 51 cents a roll. A 24-pack on sale for $9.99 at Safeway works out to 42 cents per roll -- and is easier to store.

Gasoline. When gas prices are falling, deals at the warehouse club pumps are great. But when prices are rising, be more cautious, warns Clayman, of Warehouse Club Focus. The same quick supply turnaround that allows clubs to pass along lower prices can backfire. Clubs may temporarily have higher prices than surrounding stations. Compare prices before you pull up to the pump.

    about beauty is realizing

    that you are the beholder.

This empowers us to find beauty in places

    Ryan bless you

Thursday, November 20, 2008, 10:06 AM EST [General]

So, I get up this morning and  read up on the ewrestling news for the moment....

Huh and to my surprise....it's the P!$$ Ant (The Brian Kendrick)the maryjane test 12+ times (or so it is reported).  HOW CAN THAT BE!!!!  IS THAT FOR REAL...and he's okay with it, cause it's only costing him $1000 per offense (let's do that math on that, shall we....$12000.00).  Well if throwing money away is his deal, I know several local charities that could use that money, or several families that one of the parents have recently lost their jobs.

Why doe he get a pass?

The Wellness Policy is extensive, why would this be okay?  What message is being sent?  That it's okay to get high and represent the WWE has a future major superstar (which that thought makes me puke).  Marijuana is illegal.

What would happen if The Brian Kendrick got busted with drugs?  I bet he would be fired then....

It bothers me greatly that a major part of the fan base is kids (my son included).  Certain entertainers broadcast their "partying", like no one reads their blogs.

I, recently, blocked my son from reading Matt Hardy's myspace, due to the content, posted in his Europe blog.  My son thought some of his comments were funny.  Truthfully, I think he could have left out a bunch of stuff and still let everyone know that he had a great time.   But, hey, it's his right to blog whatever he wants, and it's my responsibility to be a good parent.

Some one needs to let Ryan Cark know that acupunture is not Surgery.  And that the left over 25% of pain, well...it's a possiblity that the bar owners in Europe made sure it was taken care of.

    Let's get real....please

    Laci

    PS. on a personal note:

Some may wonder why I am so upset over this.  Some one very close to me, made an error of judgement using alcohol and drugs.  I watched him struggle for his life on a ventilator.  He survived, but he is not the same person, and never will be.  I hate to see any one put themselves or others in harms way.  Everyone that loves you suffers.

I also dated major league baseball player years ago, I watched him throw his career away drinking.  Baseball was his life.  He was very talented and a great guy.  But, drinking changed his behavior and his body started tearing down.  He was injured all the time, and angry that he couldn't be in the game.  He was in physical pain, and was afraid to be commited to some one and yet at the same time was lonely. (not that he was alone, when you are in the business, every crazy chick wants to be with you, and he took advantage of it).   I cared a great deal about him, but just couldn't handle it.

Andy Warhol Ornapendants Free Holiday Craft Project Idea!

Andy Warhol Ornapendants Free Holiday Craft Project Idea!

    For Inspiration Only

I bought an Andy Warhol purse last week at TJ Maxx. I really wanted to buy the Velvet Underground banana purse, but the tag on the roll of bills purse was calling out to me. That and the hardware on the banana purse was craptacular. The tag was a thick cardboard photo booth strip of Andy Warhol. Much like Andy, I have an obsession with photo booth photos and have a personal collection taken over my lifetime. As soon as I spied that tag I thought...that would make a really cool necklace. I've been making a lot of paper and recycled art lately, so basically anything that catches my eye that's even remotely project worthy is being dragged into my studio.

At first I was thinking of cutting the images apart, punching a hole in them, sealing them and doing a necklace with them as charms. I was waiting to get through some other projects first and in doing research for another project I stumbled upon the Warhol screen print of pop art flowers above. Then I found the photo of Andy in front of the pop art flower you also see above. So a design was born.

I remembered the Bazzill Basics Really Big Chips pop art chipboard flowers I had on hand and the vibrant colors in the Ranger Paint Dabbers line and a design was born. The plastic chips are Fragments from tim holtz that I placed over Andy's face as a sort of a lens through which one might view him. Warhol loved being obtuse. Then I added some texture with rubber stamps, but I didn't want it to be too obvious what the texture was, each one is slightly different. I added the Grungeboard stars that I painted white and added random accents: a number 15 from a magazine ad, a tiny washer and a plastic clear game piece from Outside the Margins. I dabbed on some Stickles accents and edged the flowers with Krylon silver leaf pen. I needed huge jump rings so I took them off of a really big link metal chain I got from Rings n' Things a while back. To use as an ornament, I'd add a handcrafted 18 gauge ColourCraft wire hook, for a pendant I'd just slide some ball chain through and call it a day.

They're ornaments, they're pendants...they're my newest creation the OrnapendantTM!

The idea here is that you can make something similar using your own photos or images you cull from a magazine or paper tags you buy with your clothing, but you can't actually copy images of Andy Warhol and print them out and make jewelry to resell. That violates a copyright. I'm using an actual printed item that was headed for the recycling bin that I'm repurposing, which you can do. I can't sanction violating copyrights, though I have to say Andy liked to bend the rules himself quite a bit. In fact this image was a photograph taken by someone else that he altered and never gave the women who took the original photo any credit.

It's interesting to ponder the philosophical meanings of what is art, what is craft, where are the boundaries, when is it crossing the line, when does commercial art lose it's art world cache? Andy played with these ideas often. Although he was a deeply flawed human, as we all are, he was a brilliant man with a jester like sense of humor and irreverence. So this project is my tribute to an artist who inspires me.

Next time you clip a tag off of something, look at it a little closer and see if it might be art worthy. One woman's trash is another woman's treasure.

    xoxo
    Madge

Dream Feuds & Awesome Rivalries We Have Yet To See...

Thursday, November 20, 2008, 10:03 AM EST [General]

Nowadays it's looking more and more like we have another 'Monday Night War' heating up where there is actually some solid competition arising for the WWE in the form of TNA!  Now, we remember the good ol days of the Monday Night Wars, when each week the programming that was pumped out of WWE and WCW were making each other push harder and farther to be the superior brand, and it showed- because the real winners were the wrestling fans.

Week in and week out, one would be trying to top the other, and it was ****ing great to be a fan during those times.

A LOT has changed since then, wrestling's kayfabe has been shattered, but to an almost likeable place where finally now, can it accept the viewers it never could because its not trying to be anything it's not - except sometimes compelling.

Which is why Id like to take the time to post a few fueds that I would like to see, regardless of the wrestler or the company- just plain FUN.

    _________________________________________________

    Shawn Michaels & Rey Mysterio

I dont recall ever seeing these two lock up, let alone have a program that show-stops a couple of PPV's .  This would be a classic rivalry because of the amount of lucha libre embedded into both these Champions.  Shawn was always the 'white guy who wrestled like a mexican' and Rey was always 'the mexican who could wrestle any white guy' - these two NEED to cross paths before HBK considers hangin up the 'gotta put every new guy in the company over' boots and gets down to the nitty gritty with Mystereo in an Iron Man Match & a Ladder Match.  I know he could have almost as a good a program with Mystereo as he did with Jericho.   HBK would have to be the heel, tho-  I wanted to see a heel rey rey for a while now, but I think he needs a posse for that, becasue hes not very intimidating when hes angry (ask Kane) - even to a smaller competitor like Shawn.

    Trish Strattus & Beth Phoenix

The top female competitor of all time versus the glamazon.  If Trish were still around, Beth would be the Glamma-gone.  Their athletic talents out do each other at every turn, both are superb athletes, Beth being a little bigger, Trish being a little more candid and likeable (even as a manager that didnt say a word in T&A) could have a series of matches that would re-define womens wrestling, and definately show the Knockouts over at TNA that Barbie Dolls ARE meant for playfighting.  Remember Trish's hardcore battles with Lita - these would surpass that im sure.

    Shawn Michaels & AJ Styles

For AJ to be the poster boy for TNA, he needs a big win over wrestlers who 'poster boy' the WWE - namely HBK, HHH or Taker.

All of these suggestions would be an amazing battle to witness, but I think out of the three, HBK would bring the best out of Styles because he has air attack that HHH never deploys (ever?) and Taker couldnt begin to match at this point in their respective careers.  Styles would take HBK to the limit and they would tell a damn good story the whole way - something to the tune of a Street Fight or an Iron Man match would fit these two perfectly, that way there can be infinite possibilities for each to fly, use ladders, chairs, tables, whatever craziness they could think of, would be an awesome showdown - and who doesnt wanna see sweet chin music countered with the pele kick???

    Sting & Undertaker

'Nuff Said.  Its worth whatever it would cost to get Sting after his TNA contract is up, just for a final run in the WWE in order to give the possibility of so much that has never before been able to manifest because of politics, money, loyalty and timing.  With wins over practically everyone in the business thats ever left WWE (Taker, HBK & HHH excluded) him coming to do business in the WWE only seems it would complete a wrestling legacy that is impressive despite having never stepped foot into a wwe ring.  No matter how great a champion you are, how good can you be if the gold you have worn has never been WWE gold?  I think Stings personal quest to 'perch atop' the upper echelon of the wrestling world would only be topped by a feud with the Deadman, taking Sting and The Taker back thru all their earlier garb/personas - like when Sting looked more like the Warrior than Brandon Lee (I never did like that Crow imitation- thought it was disrespectful to Brandon Lee and it wasnt original) and what you're left with is a casket match where Taker seals in the old Sting, who then vanishes and turns into 'crow' Sting and vows revenge on the Deadman so they go at it in a structure that you cannot drop in from the top, appear out of nowhere (or so you think) - the beloved Hell in a Cell!

Kendrick & London vs Motor City Machine Gunns

Even tho K&L are no longer a tag team, their partnership was one that put tandem wrestling back into the tag-team scene in the WWE, when almost no one in the past five years has been able to duplicate the now distant boom caused by The Hardys, Edge & Christian & the Dudleys and/ later on the team of Jonny Nitro & (what the hell was his name??).

Seeing these four guys do their thing would be a spectacular feat if everything went wrong.  If everything went right- then these guys would make history with the amount of innovation, speed, technical ingeneuity, stamina & heart these guys pump into every millisecond they give you as performers.  What I really wanna see is London & Kendrick in a six sided ring with some TNA originals barking up their tree.

    _________________________________________________

Here are some other feuds to think about, I wanted to list them all without having to write an encyclopedia after each, so here are some more ideas along with some of my goofy rhetoric:

Edge vs Samoa Joe } Tables Ladders and Chairs, Chaos!

Edge vs Christian Cage } Con-chair-no contest

AJ Styles vs Jon Morrison } Who has more natural talent?

HHH vs Sting } payback for the WMXIV squash with Warrior

Kevin Nash vs Scott Hall } a work for Hall to join MEM?

Jeff Hardy vs HBK > Ladder Match to end all Ladder Matches

Randy Orton vs AJ Styles } Legend Killer meets Living Legend

Cody Rhodes vs GoldDust } Lil Bro walks out of the 'embarrasing' shadow of older bro's career as a 'freak'

    Warrior vs Sting

    Bret Hart vs Kurt Angle

Bret Hart vs Shawn Michaels 3

    __________________________________________

feuds that can never happen, but would have been nice to witness
